Welcome to Say Goodbye at Home Mobile Veterinary Euthanasia Services with Dr. Susan Holt.
If you are visiting this website, chances are that you either have already made the decision that it is time to let go of your pet or the time is near and you want to be prepared. You probably are looking for a way to make this process easier for your pet, to lessen any suffering, and make it painless and stress free. Above all, you are looking for a caring and compassionate person to be there for your pet and for your family during this difficult time. Your pet may have an end-stage disease, cancer, some other debilitating disease that is no longer responding to treatment, or he or she is just very old. He or she may have been part of your life for many years, may have helped you through tough times, has been a faithful companion. Now, you see it in your pet's eyes. The love is still there but you also see suffering.
Why at-home Euthanasia?
There is a huge difference between saying goodbye in the privacy and comfort of your home versus taking your pet to the vet's for that last, dreaded trip. In a few words: compassion, caring, and comfort in your own home instead of an often stressful environment in a hospital.
You undoubtedly want your pet to be comfortable resting on his/her favorite bed with you in his/her last final moments. You want this moment to be quiet, calm, and for your baby to be in gentle, caring, kind and in loving hands.
Questions you may have:
What do you do when the time has come? How do you make it easier on your pet, on your family and on yourself? How do you know the time has come? Do you know what to expect? These are all questions that will be answered in this website or with a free phone consulatation with Dr. Holt..
We offer a compassionate, caring and gentle pet euthanasia service done in the comfort of your own home so that your beloved pet doesn't have to be put in a stressful situation, having to be lifted into the car, going into a noisy, busy veterinary hospital to spend the last few moments of his or her life in fear.
We primarily service the areas of the South Shore and Boston but we are willing to drive to more distant locations as well (please inquire for further details). We will gently guide you through the difficult decisions you will have to make and ensure that you have full understanding of what is ahead.
Services we provide:
•Free phone and email consultation
•Euthanasia for dogs, cats and pocket pets (rabbits, bunnies, chinchillas, hamsters, birds and reptiles).
•Disposal of remains
•Cremation Services (please visit Final Gift Pet Cemetery, crematory and funeral home for more information at
www.finalgift.com). We take the remains for you!
•Clay Paw Prints
•Contact with your primary veterinary hospital to inform them of your pet's passing.

Dr. Holt,
I just wanted to reach out and say thank you again so much for everything you did. You were so kind to go out of your way for just about everything, even sending me a card. I know I made the right choice choosing you, and that makes me feel more at peace about Murphy's last day. He was a sweet, abused, old soul, and you could see that. It was so nice of you to be so compassionate towards him and myself even during your visit. I'm so thankful for your services and kindness. Murphy and I can't thank you enough.
Here is the very first time I met him at the shelter. Originally they circled "yes" to being able to jump a fence, but then scribbled that out and circled "no." Which just about sums up his timid, elderly personality. It always makes me laugh and tear up at the same time.
I miss him so much but again am so happy to have found your services.
Thank you so, so much again.

Dear Dr. Holt,
From the moment you walked into my door and looked into my eyes and touched my arm I knew that I had made the right decision .
JoJo came into my life almost 17 years ago at a very difficult time for me. My husband of 29 years has recently died of cancer. Our dog Freckles was devastated and would not eat is sleep and cried often. I decided to get a kitten . JoJo was feral and feisty and to be honest she never had much use for 2 legged humans. She always loved my dogs and spent her 17 years happy to do her own thing . She would kiss my dog Boo on the nose fairly often and would allow me to touch her head when she felt like it. As age took its toll I hoped that she would go to sleep and that nature would take its course.
I then decided on home euthanasia and was drawn to the name “ Say Goodbye at home” . I knew that I wanted to be with her at home as her life ended.
I want to express my sincere gratitude to you and Julie for allowing me to give JoJo the greatest gift of all by letting her leave this earth in a beautiful, dignified way in her own home. You are
Compassionate , professional, respectful and kind. You were both caring and gentle with JoJo and you allowed me to hold her and kiss her as she started her next journey which meant so much to me since I had never held her in my arms in 17 years .
Thank you from the bottom of my heart .
Sincerely, Joy Taylor

Dear Dr. Holt,
Dr. Holt is a very special and compassionate veterinarian. Our beautiful 10 year old English Chocolate Lab was sick and getting weaker and weaker. We all knew in our heart Shelby was suffering and not getting better. He gave all of us 10 years of Joy and Love; and as his life ended we wanted to be with him and comfort him as we said our final Good Bye. We all feel we gave Shelby the greatest gift to be home in the comfort of his bed and quilt. He was the most beautiful and amazing pet a family could ever ask for.
A special thank you Dr. Holt for your gentleness and compassion. Thank you for being with us as we were able to:”Say Goodbye at Home.”

Dear Dr. Holt
I wanted to express my sincerest gratitude towards you and your team. I had made several appointments to put my boys down but canceled each time. I knew the car ride over would be frightening for them and just as horrific and final for me. I found your service by the grace of an angel and that I was delivered. Your guidance through such a difficult process not only put me at ease but I know my boys were also at that same comfort level. I can't thank you enough for your professionalism and complete grace at one of the most difficult times of my life. You and your service has given me the not only the peace I needed but sent my babies off in the beautiful dignified way they deserved. I wanted to share this picture with you, so you could see them how I want to remember them. Full of life, piss and vinegar. Two little heart beats never to be forgotten. Again, thank you for your service, professionalism and total kindness at our worst time.

Though I'm sad over the loss of my special friend, Hank, I can tell you that I'm so glad to have met you. Your energy is pure and kind, and that you find sincere purpose in helping people get through difficult times. You far exceeded any hope I might have had. I can't thank you enough for being so patient and loving to us, and for showing us an immense kindness. You really do seem like an angel to me.
Hank was the light of our life, a once-in-a-lifetime kind of girl. It's so quiet and different now without him, but we are forever thankful that we were able to say goodbye at home

Dear Dr. Holt,
I wanted to be sure to thank you and your amazing texhnician for your kindness and service. You are very compassionate and professional people who recognize how difficult loss is for us pet parents yet are able to shepherd us through with grace.
My house is no longer a home without my sweet pooches. I lost them both this year: Ella on February 21 and Sadie on June 12. I miss my babies so much but am grateful that they each transitioned peacefully. I continue to cherish the many memories I have of our beautiful life together.
Forever Grateful,

Dr. Holt was outstanding. She was infinitely patient, caring, and sensitive to our requests. Being able to be with Milo in his favorite place, with his favorite toys, surrounded by his loving family, we have such a peace about our decision. We feel as if we gave Milo a gift, sparing him from the inevitable pain and suffering that was headed his way. Thank you for providing a way for us to do this, and for helping to take something awful and turn it into something good.

Thank you Dr. Holt for turning the saddest day of my life into a beautiful experience. The professionalism and compassion you gave to my beloved beagle Danny brought such comfort to my family in knowing we made the right decision at the right time. You were referred to me by my co-worker and I, in turn, am recommending everyone else I know to consider your very invaluable service.
Sincerely,
Kelly Farnsworth
Dr. Holt came to our front door and immediately saw that we were in need of a hug!! Without hesitation, she scooped us right into her loving arms. From that moment on, we felt held by her. She met our pooch in his backyard and asked us to tell her stories about him. She was fully present, engaged, caring and at the same time thorough, efficient and highly professional. She told us about every step that would follow and that is exactly how things unfolded... We are immensely grateful to Dr. Holt for her generosity of heart and gentle ways. She showed us how goodbyes are supposed to be. What a rare and precious gift!

Dr. Holt,
I want to tell you how much I appreciate the way that you handled our loss. I would like to include how much you did for us from the moment you walk towards the door to the moment you carried Pete into your car. You knew what I was going through and what I would be going through. And I love you for doing that for me. It's a wonderful thing that you do and I am somewhat at ease knowing that the little guy Pete is going to get the same respectful and loving care that you gave Dakota. I still occasionally have little small breakdowns. I always feel like I see him whenever I walk through the door. I just can't believe he is gone. I expected him to always be here. I have never had a dog and never had to make such a choice, but it was much easier with your guidance.
Thank you so much,
Eric Shannon

Dear Dr. Holt,
You have a sweet & calm energy. You offered emotional support, kind & loving words & gestures. You made us feel we are doing the best thing we could for our dear Ronnie Boy. You explained everything to us & you were so gentle to us & to our baby. Your service was above & beyond. You offer such a tremendous service to the community and we will certainly share our experience with those we know. You make what is a painful experience feel like a spiritual experience. I really can't thank you enough for your kindness and sweet words of wisdom. Thank you again for all your kindness and concern. We miss our sweet Samson so much. We can't think of a better way to honor his life than saying goodbye at home.
